Airbus Flightplans

Airbus
CODES: AIB
CALLSIGN: AIRBUS INDUSTRIE
COUNTRY: France/Germany
TYPE: Representative
TIMEPERIOD: ~1993-2020

These plans are a bit of a hybrid. I’ve got loads of flights included, from Airbus A350-900/1000 flight testing to a record breaking Airbus A340-200 test flight from Auckland to Le Bourget that occurred during the 1993 Paris Airshow. There’s quite a lot of flights all up, so you’re all welcome to delete segments/aircraft that aren’t of interest.

Repaints:

The A319/20/21/330 Airbus Primer paints are done by Dennis Lyng Desezar, hosted on Johan’s website. I converted some of them to NEOs for my own use, since very few A320/1CEOs are still being assembled – you can all do the same if you wish.

Welcome to Azure AI

Flightplans

There’s a few different types of flightplans: accurate, representative, enhanced and fictional:

  • Accurate flightplans are ones which (should) exactly match the operator’s schedule.
  • Representative plans are ones where I’ve had to make some inferences about flights (departure/arrival airport, timings etc). Usually this is for business jets where their registrations are blocked from flight tracking sites, but websites like jetphotos.net, airliners.net, planespotters.net, flickr etc have photos of the aircraft at various locations.
  • Fictional flightplans are entirely made up, usually because it is very hard to know who the operator of a certain aircraft is and where ‘home-base’ is. Particularly difficult if photos of it are sparse.

If you have any concerns or corrections to make, please contact me through the AiTraffic.ch forums (username Azure) or leave a comment on the post here.

Repaints

All my repaints are made using GIMP and paint.net. I am not an advanced painter, so most of the repaints I do are reasonably straight-forward ones. Thank-you to everyone who has given me tips, advice, motivation and other help about AI repainting. I highly recommend that anyone who wants to get into AI repainting has a look at Eric Steinmetz’ tutorial videos on YouTube which are incredibly helpful. I occasionally do requests.

Be warned – these are very low quality repaints

Airports

My main gripe with the default Prepar3D Airports (and those of FSX etc) is that most of them have a very limited number of gates and other parking positions. For example, by default, LFKB has two gates, UKBB has four, SBCF has seven and SZFZ has four. This means that few if any AI aircraft can spawn there and makes them look very blank and empty. The main goal of my airport uploads (other than to include airports that aren’t in Prepar3d) is to fix this, as well as adding things that the default airports missed (eg turning bays, tower positions etc) as well as corrected taxiway names (and hopefully signage). There won’t be custom terminals/buildings or other such eye-candy (would love to be able to do so but that’s beyond my skillset) but the gates should be accurate and there should be plenty of parking spaces. I do sometimes use a little artistic license to add more parking spaces to airports that don’t have a lot.

Happy (virtual) Flying!
